Camden Fairview School District has named Deques McClain as the new principal of Ivory Intermediate, effective for the 2026–2027 school year.

Mr. McClain currently serves as assistant principal at Camden Fairview Middle School and previously served in the same role at Jacksonville Elementary School in the Jacksonville North Pulaski School District. He brings experience in instructional leadership, student support, and campus culture development.

“I am excited to continue serving in a leadership role within Camden Fairview,” Mr. McClain said. “I look forward to collaborating with staff, families, and the community to ensure every student has access to high-quality instruction and the opportunities they need to be successful both in and beyond the classroom.”

Mr. McClain emphasized the importance of relationships in his leadership approach.

“My favorite way to support students is by building strong relationships and being visible and present in their daily learning environment,” he said. “I believe students thrive when they feel seen, heard, and valued. I also focus on setting high expectations while providing the encouragement and support needed for them to meet those expectations.”

Superintendent Tara Armstrong said Mr. McClain’s leadership style aligns well with the culture already established at Ivory Intermediate.

“As I spoke with Mr. McClain about this role, what stood out most was his focus on being present, supportive, and intentional. Those values strongly align with the culture educators have built at Ivory,” Mrs. Armstrong said. “He understands the strong culture and momentum at Ivory and is committed to supporting that work while continuing the focus on high-quality instruction and student growth.”
