Camden Fairview School Board Hires Armstrong as New Superintendent

In a December 8, 2025, special meeting of the Camden Fairview School Board, the Board voted unanimously to appoint Interim Superintendent Tara Armstrong as Superintendent of Schools, effective immediately.

This decision follows the hiring process outlined by the Board earlier this fall. Applications were accepted through November 27, and Board members reviewed all submissions during a December 2 meeting. During Monday’s meeting, Armstrong participated in an interview with the Board before the final vote.

Armstrong has served as Interim Superintendent since July 2025, following the resignation of then-Superintendent Johnny Embry. At the time, the district noted that “Mrs. Armstrong brings a strong background in educational leadership, a deep understanding of our district’s values, and a clear vision for continued growth and excellence. Her transition into this role ensures stability and continued momentum as we move forward.”

Reflecting on her new role, Armstrong shared her gratitude with CFSD staff, saying, “I am honored by the Board’s unanimous confidence and support. It has been my privilege to serve as Interim Superintendent since July. Over these past six months, what has stood out most is the dedication, care, and resilience I see in our classrooms, offices, buses, cafeterias, and campuses every day.”

She continued, “I know firsthand that this district is a special place thanks to each of you - the people who dedicate yourselves to supporting our students and one another every day.”

Looking ahead, Armstrong emphasized the district’s continued focus on safety, staff support, and academic excellence.

“As we move forward together, my commitment remains the same: to support staff in the essential work they do; to ensure safe, supportive learning environments; to strengthen our focus on high-quality instruction and continued academic growth; and to keep our attention on what matters most: every Cardinal, every day.”

Armstrong brings 27 years of experience in public education, including service as an elementary principal, Director of Early Childhood Education and Special Education Services, Assistant Superintendent, and most recently, Interim Superintendent.

Before we start with our announcements, let’s focus on some Good Things!
  • We’re on a countdown to Christmas Break - our last day of school is on December 19, which will be a 2-Hour Early Out.
  • At the Beth Maxwell Tournament in Monticello, Cardinal Basketball defeated Watson Chapel 64-54 and Lady Cardinal Basketball defeated Hamburg 45-15.
  • Congratulations to the CFHS freshmen who earned All Region Band honors on Saturday!

This Week is a 1-Hour Early Out Wednesday! On Wednesday, all Camden Fairview schools will dismiss one hour early to allow teachers additional time for professional development and collaboration.

Credit Recovery Opportunities: There will be after school credit recovery this week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30-5:30 PM, and Saturday School will take place on December 13 from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Students who have 9 or more absences should plan to attend these credit recovery opportunities.

The P7 club will have a meeting on December 11 in Mrs. Fickey’s room. Everyone is invited to attend.

CFHS Seniors: “Be Pro Be Proud” Draft Day Opportunity!

CFHS seniors who plan to enter the workforce after graduation are invited to participate in the Be Pro Be Proud Draft Day. Draft Day is a hands-on career fair where students meet face-to-face with companies ready to hire the next generation of technical professionals.

  • Transportation provided by CFSD

Students will have the chance to explore high-demand career fields and complete interviews with employers on site.

Cardinal Athletics:

Trap Shooting Sports Info: Camden Fairview students in 6th–12th grade are invited to join our Trap Shooting Team! The season runs February 1 – July 31, with practices on Wednesdays after school and Sunday afternoons. Students will need a Hunter Education Card and either a 12-gauge or 20-gauge shotgun before the season begins. (A 20-gauge may be easier for younger shooters.) Sign-ups open in early January. For more information, contact Mrs. Edwards at ledwards@cfcards.net.

Coach May will host a CFHS Baseball parents meeting on Wednesday, December 10, at 5PM in the CFHS Commons. Please plan to have at least one parent or guardian present for each player. We’re looking forward to a great season.

Lady Cardinal Gymnastics will host their red/white meet on Friday, December 12, at 4:15 PM at the Multipurpose Building. Admission is a case of water or 12-pack of sports drinks.

Clear Bag Policy

Reminders for All Cardinal Athletic Events:

Admission is $6 for all home athletic events. Athletic Passes are available for sale at Central Office (625 Clifton Street). All CFSD employees have free entry with their district ID badge.

Clear Bag Policy. Camden Fairview School District has implemented a Clear Bag Policy that limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into stadiums, gymnasiums and other athletic fields.* Prohibited items include but are not limited to purses larger than a 4.5” x 6.5” clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, grocery bags, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, computer bags, and camera bags, or any bag larger than the permissible size. For more information, view the full CLEAR BAG POLICY.

Food & Drink. No outside food or drink (including tumblers) permitted.

No Pets. Only registered service animals are allowed.

Student Conduct. K-5 grade students must be supervised by an adult at all CFSD athletic events. All students, home and visiting, are expected to be on their best behavior while attending any school event. Students will be removed from events if they are involved in any fights, act disrespectfully toward administrators or other school personnel, or if any prohibited items are found on them or in their vehicle. All students must be picked up within 20 minutes of the end of any event

This afternoon, a Camden Fairview bus was involved in an accident in front of McDonald's. No students were on the bus. We're thankful to share that the CFSD employee driving the bus was not injured. 

This incident will not impact our regular bus routes.

CFMS Spelling Bee Champions Announced!

We are so proud of all the CFMS Cardinals who stepped up to compete in this year’s CFMS Spelling Bee! Our students showed confidence, focus, and incredible vocabulary skills.

ℹ️ $6 admission for all fans. Clear bag policy will be enforced.


👟 Student Expectations: To keep our events safe and fun for everyone:

 • All CFSD dress code & discipline policies apply.

• CFHS and CFMS students must sit on the home-side unless accompanied by a parent/ guardian listed on their student registration information. 

 • K–5 students must be supervised by an adult and stay with that adult throughout the event.

 • All students — home and visiting — are expected to show respect and good sportsmanship.

 • Students will be removed from events if involved in fights, disrespect toward staff, or in possession of prohibited items.

 • Students must leave the venue within 20 minutes after the event ends.

Any senior interested in attending a Preview Day for SAU Magnolia on Tuesday, December 2, should sign up in the counseling center as soon as possible. School transportation will be provided.

Reminders for All Cardinal Athletic Events:

Admission is $6 for all home athletic events. Athletic Passes are available for sale at Central Office (625 Clifton Street). All CFSD employees have free entry with their district ID badge.

Clear Bag Policy. Camden Fairview School District has implemented a Clear Bag Policy that limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into stadiums, gymnasiums and other athletic fields.* Prohibited items include but are not limited to purses larger than a 4.5” x 6.5” clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, grocery bags, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, computer bags, and camera bags, or any bag larger than the permissible size. For more information, view the full CLEAR BAG POLICY.

Food & Drink. No outside food or drink (including tumblers) permitted.

No Pets. Only registered service animals are allowed.

Student Conduct. K-5 grade students must be supervised by an adult at all CFSD athletic events. All students, home and visiting, are expected to be on their best behavior while attending any school event. Students will be removed from events if they are involved in any fights, act disrespectfully toward administrators or other school personnel, or if any prohibited items are found on them or in their vehicle. All students must be picked up within 20 minutes of the end of any event

Announcements:

Report Concerns. Protect Our Cardinals.

Camden Fairview School District is committed to keeping every student safe. P3 Campus provides an easy, anonymous way for students and families to report concerns anytime, anywhere.

P3 Campus connects students, parents, staff, counselors, and law enforcement to make sure time-sensitive matters are addressed quickly and appropriately. Reports are monitored 24/7, and users receive updates when action has been taken, reinforcing that their voice and concern matter.

Students can attach photos, videos, or screenshots and communicate securely with a trained responder. These features help ensure swift support and intervention when safety is at risk.

The P3 Campus app is free for all CFSD families through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Students may also access the P3 Campus website on district electronic devices during the school day if needed.

Students can use P3 Campus to report any situation that could threaten their safety or the safety of others.

Please talk with your student about using this life-saving tool. Protecting every Cardinal starts with speaking up.

P3 Campus Anonymous Reporting
Credit Recovery Opportunities: There will be after school credit recovery this week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30-5:30 PM. Saturday School will also be held on November 22 and November 29 from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Students who have 9 or more absences should plan to attend these credit recovery opportunities.

Friday, November 21, will be a 2-hour early out day. We will run a regular schedule that day and dismiss students from 5th Period at 1:19.

From November 17th through the 21st, Student Council will be hiding 20 green T’s around the school each day! If you find one, bring it to Mrs. H. James in Room 115 to trade it in for a snack bag prize! Keep your eyes open in the halls, classrooms, and common areas —you never know where a green T might be hiding! Remember, you may not leave class to search for T's, and you may only claim one T per day.

Cardinal Baseball Tryouts are happening Tuesday and Wednesday at the CFHS baseball field. Tryouts start at 3:00 PM and will last until finished. Tryout Schedule:

  • Tuesday: Students who were NOT on the team last year
  • Wednesday: Students who WERE on the team last year
  • All participants should have a current physical on file, wear athletic attire and shoes (cleats and turf shoes), and bring your glove (and bat if you have one). Tryouts will move to the Multi if weather requires. Good luck, Cardinals!

The P7 club will have meetings on November 20, and December 11 in Mrs. Fickey’s room. Everyone is invited to attend.

Our Turkey Teacher Community Donation Drive is happening now through November 19! We’re collecting food and snack donations to help stock our Backpack Program, making sure our K–5 Cardinals have food for weekends and school breaks. Here’s the best part — every donation earns points for your 4th period teacher! The teacher with the most points wins bragging rights AND the grade with the most donations earns a special prize! You can bring in items like ramen noodles, peanut butter, granola bars, fruit cups, or oatmeal packets — and remember, double-point items help your class climb the leaderboard even faster! Let’s come together, show that Cardinal spirit, and help feed our community. Every item, every snack, every dollar makes a difference. Let’s do this, Cards!

Any senior interested in attending a Preview Day for SAU Magnolia on Tuesday, December 2, should sign up in the counseling center as soon as possible. School transportation will be provided.

The 8th Annual Turkey Teacher Food Drive Ends This Wednesday!

Help us fill our Backpack Program shelves - and crown your child’s teacher the new Turkey Teacher Champion!
  • Every donation earns points for your student’s class.
